About this deal

It's a new flash tube with different properties, even if we agree it's a 'fix' it still costs money to design and implement it.

The Godox AD400 Pro TTL Witstro Flash Head is a versatile flash unit that is designed for outdoor and location use in mind. This model offers 600Ws with 9 steps of power output which ranges from 1/1 to 1/256. It's powered 2600mAh lithium-Ion battery that offers up to 360 full-powered flashes on a single charge with a recycle time of just 0.9 seconds - Perfect for location shoots where you don't want to have to worry about battery consumption. There's also a 38W LED modelling lamp that will help you effectively manipulate your light. The unit has an integrated 2.4 GHz wireless X system with a range of 100m. This system is compatible with Godox X triggers but also fully supports Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm & Olympus TTL systems. Another highlight for me is the improved 38-watt LED bulb modeling lamp versus the ten-watt on the original non-pro model. With this modeling lamp boost, the Pro model is much more versatile as well competitive to the high-priced alternatives. It also becomes useful outside of just dimly lit studios. For this image of a bolt of cloth, I had a large overhead softbox, and then a large gridded reflector frame right. The issue I had, was down to the weight of the head, which meant I had to counterbalance with a sandbag etc. and I still felt a little uneasy working below it.The AD600Pro Witstro features a high-speed sync mode that works with shutter speeds up to 1/8000 seconds, offering flash durations from 1/220 to 1/10,100 seconds. Another unique setting is its Stable color temperature mode, which tightly controls color to keep temperature changes within ±75K across the entire power range. Despite these impressive characteristics, it manages to keep recycling times low at 0.01-0.9 seconds for fast and reliable use, and is capable of 12 continuous pops at 1/16 power output. Finally, a 38W modeling lamp is available to help aid composition. I switched to Godox Speedlights a few years ago because of the Li-ion batteries that allowed me to shoot long events without a battery change. Comparing the modelling lamps, the AD600Pro comes out on top with a 38W COB LED, compared to the 30W COB LED on the AD400Pro. Because you're arguing semantics and making unreasonable demands, the AD600 pro is a completely redesigned product, there is no reason for them to price it the same.

The design and construction of the carry bag itself is sturdy, and the componentry fits snugly and securely into the pre-cut foam inserts. It is also entirely possible to light a scene with just the modeling light. You probably won’t want to do this for a portrait session, but for tabletop setups and the like, you can use the CITI600 as a continuous light and put even less strain on the battery. Right from the outset, it’s clear that Godox has put some thought into making the AD400Pro flash even more transportable and convenient by providing a carry case with the unit itself – an accessory that the AD600Pro does not come with. With the built-in 2.4G wireless receiver, the Godox AD600 Pro is completely remote controllable thanks to the built-in Godox 2.4G wireless X system. When using in combination with the X1T or XPro triggers, the AD600 Pro can be adjusted, fired and controlled within a 100m range. 9 STOP RANGE IN 1/10 STOP INCREMENTS I have to say, the weight was the only negative aspect I found with Godox AD600 Pro. Although the weight isn't particularly heavy at 3Kg, taking four or five on a location shoot could be tiresome, and bear in mind you also have to take 3Kg of ballast to counter-weight the boom arm too. Where the head is simply sat on top of a light stand, it was fine, and gave excellent results every time, making it a fantastic battery-powered strobe for location shots, such as this... It wasn't a good design but it worked, if they replace it with a design which is better then yes that's a feature. The LED draws less power than your traditional modeling bulb, meaning that there is less strain on your battery. LEDs also do not get anywhere near as hot as tungsten bulbs. For your subjects, this means more comfort as they’re less likely to get too warm under the heat of the lights. It also means that certain modifiers and gels pose much less of a fire risk. You can find the wireless triggers here– they are brand specific for Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fuji, Pentax, Olympus and Panasonic.
