Fitting true to size the Peregrine 12 are a comfy, spacious shoe. With a nice, wide 104.9mm forefoot width in the upper, there’s lots of room for feet of all widths. Feel of the shoe: Soft cushioning with SPEEDROLL technology pushes you onto your toes and helps propel you forwards. The higher-fitting upper makes your feet feel more protected. It’s worth noting that while Saucony has named the shoe after the Peregrine Falcon – a bird that can dive bomb at speeds up to 200 miles (390 km) an hour – this running shoe is not a trail racer. From a tongue standpoint, it’s a thin piece of foam sandwiched between some mesh. It is gusseted inside and that starts right around the uppermost fabric eyelet and works its way all the way down into the inside of the shoe, hopefully avoiding those hotspots.

Stability: B- (not a stability shoe, for runners who can tolerate 4mm drop and do not require traditional stability features) Saucony reduced the amount of padding in the upper to shed weight for this year’s Peregrine update, but it does not compromise comfort. The Peregrine 12 is comfortable for narrow or normal-width feet, but may constrict a wider foot. Additionally, the narrow toe box doesn’t accommodate significant swelling that often occurs on longer efforts. In comparison to other models, it's the only one to feature a 3-quarter length plate carbon-fibre plate and is the lightest and fastest Saucony trail shoe in the range. It also has a higher drop (6mm) than the Peregrine 12 and Endorphin Trail, which are both 4mm. Saucony Endorphin Edge With both higher absorption and faster evaporation, the lightweight mesh of the upper helps pull moisture away from your foot, which means you keep cool and stay dry.

Except for the slightly long sizing, the upper has a secure, protective, and comfortable fit. SHOES SIMILAR TO THE SAUCONY PEREGRINE 12 The Peregrine 12 is a great-looking shoe. Pulling them out of the box, I was excited to show them off on my local trails at the earliest opportunity. Terrain: The protective shoe for the same terrain as the Endorphin Trail but with a more protective upper suited to dusty paths and gravel. Performance: B+ ( The EVA foam in the cold weather resulted in lost points in this category. The increased stiffness of the foam led to decreased responsiveness and bounce)Andrea: The Peregrine 12 is the best version of the Peregrine I have tried. I would be hard pressed to think of another trail shoe that performs better on loose terrain, particularly snow and mud, as compared to the Peregrine. I think that the overall performance of the shoe could be improved if Saucony could make the outsole even more flexible while maintaining the lug pattern, which is what provides such excellent grip. It does appear that Saucony made the forefoot slightly wider than previous versions and I would encourage them to maintain this feature, which allows for slight toe splay and improved forefoot stability.
